L’exode rural des jeunes au Laos est souvent motivé par un double objectif: échapper à la pauvreté et rechercher un autre mode de vie. Des études antérieures ont montré que l’exode rural s’accompagne à la fois d’opportunités économiques et de risques sexuels accrus. Cependant, on s’est moins intéressé aux populations sédentaires résidant dans des zones où l’activité migratoire est importante. Si la migration est souvent considérée sous l’angle des opportunités écono-miques, elle engendre également des vulnérabilités, en particulier dans les régions en plein essor comme les zones économiques spéciales (ZES).
The urban migration of young people in Laos is often driven by the dual motivations of escaping poverty and seeking a different way of life. Previous research has demonstrated that rural-urban migration brings with it a mix of economic opportunities and heightened sexual risks. However, less attention has been given to sedentary populations residing in areas with significant migratory activity. While migration is often viewed in terms of economic opportunities, it also brings vulnerabilities, particularly in regions of rapid development like Special Economic Zones (SEZs).
