L’IRASEC a pour vocation de développer la recherche en sciences humaines et sociales sur et dans les pays d’Asie du Sud-Est – Birmanie, Brunei, Cambodge, Indonésie, Laos, Malaisie, Philippines, Singapour, Thaïlande, Timor-Leste et Vietnam – et sur la région dans son ensemble.

as an association under the French Law of 1901
Depuis sa création en 2020, le Saigon Social Sciences Hub (SSSH) s’est affirmé comme un espace d’échange scientifique pluridisciplinaire, réunissant des chercheuses et chercheurs en sciences humaines et sociales, toutes disciplines confondues, autour du Vietnam et, plus largement, de l’Asie du Sud-Est.
Après plus de cinq ans d’existence, le SSSH franchit une étape décisive de son développement en devenant, le 19 février 2026, une association loi 1901. Cette formalisation consacre leur dynamique scientifique et ouvre une nouvelle phase dans la structuration de leurs activités, en particulier en offrant aux jeunes chercheurs et chercheuses un cadre stimulant, exigeant mais toujours bienveillant pour présenter leurs travaux, faire connaître leurs recherches et recevoir des retours constructifs sur leur méthodologie et leurs écrits (articles, mémoires, thèses, etc.).
Au fil des années, le SSSH s’est imposé comme une référence montante, en permettant à de nombreux étudiants de master, doctorants et jeunes chercheurs de gagner en visibilité et de bénéficier d’un réseau informel de chercheurs internationaux. Le SSSH souhaite désormais renforcer cette dynamique et envisage la création d’une revue à comité scientifique ainsi que l’organisation d’événements collectifs et thématiques plus ambitieux.

Since its creation in 2020, the Saigon Social Sciences Hub (SSSH) has established itself as a multidisciplinary forum for scholarly exchange, bringing together researchers in the humanities and social sciences from across all disciplines, with a focus on Vietnam and, more broadly, Southeast Asia.
After more than five years of existence, the SSSH has reached a decisive new stage in its development when it became, on 19 February 2026, a nonprofit organization under the 1901 law. This formalization confirms an already well-established scholarly momentum and opens a new phase in the structuring of their activities, in particular, by providing early-career researchers with a stimulating, rigorous, and consistently supportive environment in which to present their work, share their research, and receive constructive feedback on their methodology and written work (articles, dissertations, theses, etc.).
Over the years, the SSSH has become an increasingly recognized point of reference, enabling many master’s students, PhD candidates, and early-career researchers to gain visibility and benefit from an informal network of international scholars. It now wish to strengthen this momentum further by creating a peer-reviewed journal under the SSSH’s auspices, and organizing more ambitious collective and thematic events.
